Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp felt that their stalemate against Polokwane City was not a true reflection of the game.
The Glamour Boys were forced to settle for a point after playing out to a 1-1 draw with Rise and Shine at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium over the weekend.
Amakhosi are now placed sixth in the league standings with 29 points after 21 games played so far this season, nine points behind log leaders Bidvest Wits.
‘We started well,’ Middendorp reflected on his side’s performance against Polokwane. ‘We created many possibilities to score. It’s a pity we gave the lead away with a soft goal.’
‘In the second half we had possibilities to score. The scoreline is not a true reflection of the match. We could have done better and collected the three points.’
‘We take it one game at a time,’ he added. ‘We haven’t had a completely fit squad for quite some time, but a number of players are coming back from injuries.’
Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to bounce back when they take on Highlands Park at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, with kick-off set for 6pm.
