Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp says his side are solely focused on claiming maximum points when they take on Baroka in their next Absa Premiership match.

The Glamour Boys advanced to the Nedbank Cup semi-final after securing a 2-0 victory over Cape Town City at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon through goals from Hendrick Ekstein and Dumsani Zuma.

From a league point of view, Chiefs currently sit seventh on the table with 36 points from 24 games played so far this campaign, trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by eight points.

Middendorp has stressed the importance of being well-prepared for their upcoming clash against an unpredictable Bakgaga side, as a win would lift them higher up the league standings.

‘It’s important to now prepare for Saturday’s match against Baroka, because we want to get into a good position on the log,’ Middendorp told his club’s official website.

‘If you check the form guide, taking into consideration the last eight league games, SuperSport United and Cape Town City are on 16 points, while we are in third position with 15 points.

‘It means that we are not too far off and doing well looking at those eight games, especially when you consider that we lost matches that we shouldn’t have – they were lost due to some errors.’

Kaizer Chiefs will now take on Baroka at the FNB Stadium when the two sides lock horns in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, with kick-off set for 6pm.
