Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp believes Amakhosi have done all the necessary preparations ahead of their mouthwatering clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Glamour Boys are set to renew their rivalry with Sundowns when they meet in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Amakhosi will be hoping to redeem themselves agains Sundowns after the Brazilians won the inaugural encounter 2-1 in the competition last time around.
‘It’s good for us,’ Middendorp told his club’s official website.
‘We have it all worked out. Our approach is integrated into our planning and preparation. It is all comprehensive in terms of approach.
‘It is an opportunity to sample a few technical elements of our game. It’s not only about that – there’s an element of keeping the momentum. If you recall before George Maluleka got injured, Willard Katsande was working hard to keep same level of fitness with the rest of the team. That’s why he came on and did the job for the team.
‘We are playing against one of the top teams. However, we are not worried about them. Ours is what we’ve planned, and we should do well and win the match. We’ve done all the necessary in the preparations.’
Middendorp also confirmed that Amakhosi will be without the services of Itumeleng Khune, who remains sidelined with a groin injury.
‘Khune is sidelined for the month,’ confirmed Middendorp.
‘We have four internationals doing duty for South Africa and Zambia. What’s important, though, is that we will have all positions covered and hope we will use this to assess some combinations, especial at the back row.’
