Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has reflected on his side’s 2-1 defeat by SuperSport United at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday.
The Glamour Boys nine-game unbeaten run ended when they conceded their second defeat in the Absa Premiership this past weekend.
However, Amakhosi still maintain the lead at the top of the league standings, with 35 points after 15 matches played so far this season.
Middendorp believes his men had several chances to put the game to bed but was let down by a lack of composure in the final third.
‘It is one of those games where the performance was good but not the results,’ Middendorp told his club’s official website.
‘We had several chances where we should have scored. We hit the bar three times and had two or three other golden opportunities.
‘We brought in Zuma to improve our attack and immediately it paid off with the pressure resulting in an equalising goal.
‘We had a forced change with Reeve Frosler coming off and we introduced Kgotso Moleko. The game was tough, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. We have three days to prepare for the next match.’
Kaizer Chiefs will now focus on their upcoming Absa Premiership clash with Highlands Park at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off set for 7:30pm.
