Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp asserts that he is not worried about the dip in form of star forward Khama Billiat.

Chiefs signed Billiat from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the campaign and the Zimbabwean star got off to a flier under then-coach Giovanni Solinas.

Solinas praised Billiat on a number of occasions at the start of the season as he seemingly placed a lot of his team’s success on the shoulders of the forward.

However, since Solina’s departure and Middendorp’s arrival, Billiat has struggled to reproduce his early season form.

This dip in form, though, does not worry the German coach, who believes the forward will still prove his worth at Naturena.

‘It’s normal. He’s a player with huge potential, but okay, we have the options and whether he plays until half-time or comes from the bench, we will bring him back to [form]. He has huge value for us,’ Middendorp told Vodacom Soccer.

Billiat is not the only Chiefs forward who has struggled in front of goal as they have only scored 20 goals in 17 games, despite having a forward line consisting of Leonardo Castro, Lebogang Manyama, Bernard Parker.

The side’s frailty in front of goal is also something that is not worrying the former Bloemfontein Celtic coach.

‘As long as we are capable of producing possibilities and options to score – and we had a lot on Saturday [against Sundowns] – the rest will come. We will score,’ Middendorp added.

‘We have the players like Khama [Billiat], Bernard [Parker], and Ryan Moon is still waiting. Lebogang [Manyama] can also score out of the central midfield position,’ he added.

‘There are players who really can do the job, and you saw that in our second goal from Hendrick Ekstein, so that’s good,’ he concluded.
