Xola Mlambo admits that plying his trade for Orlando Pirates is a dream come true, in addition to revealing his hunger to learn from the club’s technical team.

The 27-year-old’s midfield partnership with Musa Nyatama has been key to Pirates’ change in fortunes this season under coach Milutin Sredojevic.

Mlambo picked up the Man of the Match award in Pirates’ final league game of the season as they ran out 2-1 victors against Free State Stars at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

‘I feel honoured having been given an opportunity to join Orlando Pirates and it has been an unbelievable experience for me,’ he told the media.

‘Wearing the club jersey is also a great feeling. Since joining the club, I have been learning from the technical team.

‘The supporters have been great, so it is good to be part of such a family. I’m also grateful for having been given the opportunity to play with such talented individuals.

‘I’m willing to continue learning and helping the team going forward.

‘I honestly feel that any of my teammates deserved to win the Man of the Match award because we all put in a good shift.

‘We saw the youngster [Siphumelele] Mbulu, who had a great game and he also deserved to win the award, while [Thabo] Qalinge and our defence also did well,’ Mlambo commented.

‘I cannot name them all, but we all put in a good effort. I was fortunate to win the award, but it was a collective effort,’ he concluded.
