Orlando Pirates midfielder Abbubakker Mobara insists that his side will continue to fight to collect maximum points in the hopes of finishing in the Absa Premiership top eight.
The 23-year-old midfielder was named man of the match for his performance against the Chilli Boys, following their 2-1 at the Orlando Stadium.
Mobara says he was delighted to have been given a run in a Pirates jersey, but says the Sea Robbers worked hard for the victory against a tough Chippa side.
‘First and foremost, all glory goes to the Almighty, if it wasn’t for Him nothing would be possible today. And thank you to the coach and the technical team of Orlando Pirates as a whole for giving me the opportunity to play today,’ Mobara told SuperSport TV.
‘We always knew it was gonna be a tough game, Chippa is always a team that passes a lot and for us [the plan was] just to keep disciplined, keep shape and eventually we will score.’
Mobara knows his side need to stay on their toes for a top-eight spot, with Maritzburg United, Golden Arrows and Platinum Stars also fighting for the last two places.
The former Ajax Cape Town midfielder says his side have to keep on fighting for a top eight spot in the Absa Premiership, after collecting all three points against Dan Malesela’s side.
‘All the points are needed at all times, we’re in a difficult spot and we want to win each and every game and be in the top eight, and that’s what the goal is,’ he added.
‘Every game is important, every point is needed. Three points is what we came for and that’s what we got.’
