Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has shown his appreciation towards Yellow Nation after walking away with the PSL Coach of the Season award on Sunday evening.
Mokwena fended off competition from SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt and Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro to walk away with this prestigious award at the 2022/23 PSL Awards.
The 36-year-old coach recently guided the Brazilians to their 13th DStv Premiership title as well as their sixth consecutive league title to further stretch their dominance in South African football.
However, Mokwena admits that none of this would be possible without the support of the Yellow Nation, who stuck by the club throughout the season.
“This is your head coach Rulani Mokwena. I am so honoured and extremely privileged to stand in front of you after receiving the Coach of the Season award on your behalf,” Mokwena said.
“This award is only a reflection of the hard work and commitment of everybody associated with this football club.
“Individual awards in football are only means to reflect the commitment and hard work of the group.
“So I want to thank you for all that you have done, your commitment, your support, your love, your dedication and for travelling with us throughout this journey.
“We go again next season and we will try to make it even better.”
