Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena is confident his side can rediscover their form following their three match winless run in the DStv Premiership.
The Brazilians are winless in their last four matches across all competitions and suffered their first league defeat this season when they fell to a 2-1 at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.
Sundown now be hoping to bounce back when they travel to the Orlando Stadium on Sunday to face Orlando Pirates in their next league encounter.
However, Mokwena insists that every team goes through a rough patch, including the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona but has urged his side not to panic as they will get past their current form.
‘Sundowns have been here before, and the players have right amount of experience to deal with such hardships. We knew this was going to happen,’ Mokwena told the media.
‘It happens to everyone – Manchester City go through difficult moments. In fact, they went through difficult moments at the beginning of the season, and they caught a little bit of momentum. Liverpool – same; Real Madrid – same; Barcelona – same.
‘So, it happens. There is no perfect season. We would be very naive to think – when we were sitting in a position with 21 games unbeaten in the domestic league – we were going to have a perfect season.
‘Because the season being as difficult as it is, strange as it is, the difficulties we have along the way only prepare us to try and navigate our way through and get to the finishing line as successfully as possible – that is the responsibility we have as Mamelodi Sundowns.’
