Bidvest Wits star Thabang Monare has clarified that there has been no contact from Kaizer Chiefs about a potential move, and any talks concerning a switch are simply rumours at the moment.
Recent reports in the media suggested that the Glamour Boys have shown an interest in the 29-year-old, who has enjoyed a productive season at Wits, making 22 appearance in the league and who has played a key role in his side’s title challenge.
Though, as the season draws to a close and rumours begin to swirl around, Monare has clarified that talks around a potential move are just rumours.
‘At the end of the day, if anything has to happen it has to go through Wits, because I am at Wits at the moment and I am happy here,’ Monare told Phakaaathi.

‘I heard about the rumour [interest from Chiefs] in the papers, and after someone told me about it I went and got the paper. For now, I will take them as rumours that are just out there because everything still has to go through Wits,’ he concluded.
Kaizer Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club had decided to release the trio of Hendrick Ekstein, Gustavo Paez and Khotso Malope.
With Chiefs looking to rebuild their side, it is thought that Monare could be the perfect addition as Ernst Middendorp looks to shake up his squad ahead of his first full season in charge.
