According to reports Bidvest Wits midfielder Thabang Monare is considering putting in a transfer request in January after contract talks with the Clever Boy have stalled.
The midfielder has been a known target of both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns as both clubs are understood to be monitoring his situation at Milpark.
The 30-year-old’s contract is due to expire in June 2020, with Wits having an option of a further year, but his playing time has been greatly diminished this campaign with the uncertainty of his future.
According to KickOff.com the club have offered Monare a new long term contract but the midfielder is reportedly not happy with the terms of the deal.
‘The boy is not happy with what the club is offering him. He has given so much to the club but he feels his efforts are not appreciated,’ a source told KickOff.com.
‘Thulani Hlatshwayo was linked with Orlando Pirates but the club quickly came out and offered him more, a bigger contract. He [Monare] is not on a bigger contract at Wits and with his age he is worried about his future.
‘Wits hold the right to exercise the one-year option but if the club doesn’t come with a much better contract, he might drop a transfer request in January,’ he concluded.
