Kaizer Chiefs striker Ryan Moon reveals that his goalscoring form has been aided by watching fellow strikers Leonardo Castro, Gustavo Paez and Bernard Parker in training.
The 21-year-old has been experiencing a rich vein of goalscoring form, netting three goal in his last four league games.
Moon highlighted the faith that coach Steve Komphela has in him and says that the former Maritzburg United mentor has helped him improve his game.
‘It’s great to have a coach who believes in you,’ Moon told the club’s official website.
‘We have some fantastic strikers, like Bernard Parker, Gustavo Páez and Leonardo Castro.
‘The competition for places up-front is strong and I am by far the youngest. I really admire the coach, also for having faith in me,’ he added.
Moon beamed with excitement when speaking of 31-year-old Parker who has been acting as his mentor.
‘I watch a lot of different strikers. Here at Kaizer Chiefs, I learn a lot from Bernard Parker, who regularly talks to me (about) what to do in certain situations.
‘Bernard played at the highest level in Europe and he mentors me a lot from what he learnt, which is fantastic.
‘Otherwise, I look at all types of strikers – each has his own strength to learn from. The best examples to watch at the moment are, of course, Barcelona’s Luis Suárez and Tottenham Hotspurs’ Harry Kane.
‘They are unbelievable,’ he concluded.
Chiefs’ next assignment sees them face Golden Arrows in the last-32 of the Nedbank Cup at FNB Stadium on Sunday with kickoff set for 15:30.
