The Urban Warriors are now set to take on Ea Lla Koto at Athlone Stadium, following their elimination from the Nedbank Cup at the hands of lower league side KwaDukuza United.
Ajax head of medical, Jantho Greyling, has confirmed that Morris was pulled out of training due to a chronic osteitis pubis injury, while Mdabuka picked up his injury against SuperSport United.
‘Tashreeq Morris, he has a chronic osteitis pubis injury which he has been struggling with, struggling with for quite some while and he also has a hip flexor issue, so we pulled him out of training for the last week,’ Greyling told the Ajax Cape Town website.
‘He will probably still be out for another week or two, as it is struggling to settle down, so unfortunately, he is struggling with that injury.
‘Mdabuka, he picked up an injury in our game vs SuperSport United, where he injured the medial collateral ligament (MCL) of his knee, so we are pushing against time to see if we will have him ready for this weekend’s game.
‘He hasn’t been training with the team yet [as of Tuesday], so we will probably see if we can get him back into training in the next few days. He is a bit of a 50-50 call for Friday’s game. ‘
Meanwhile, the Urban Warriors top scorer Paulse is an injury doubt, having picked up a hamstring strain during their Nedbank Cup defeat to KwaDukuza United.
‘Nathan picked up a mild hamstring strain over the weekend against KwaDukuza United, so we are racing against time to get him ready for Friday’s game,’ he added.
‘We will only know by Wednesday, Thursday and then make a call on him. It is very mild, so we still have a chance of getting him ready.’
Ajax Cape Town will now welcome Free State Stars to Athlone Stadium when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership on Friday.
Kick-off has been set for 20:00.
