Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says that he was happy with midfielder Sammy Seabi’s debut performance for the Brazilians.
The 24-year-old joined the Brazilians from Polokwane City after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.
The central midfielder made his debut for Sundowns durinf their 1-1 draw with Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
However, Seabi, who had a good performance on debut, was stretched off the field in the second half after picking up an injury.
Mosimane was delighted with what he saw from Seabi in his first appearance for Sundowns and revealed that the extent of his injury is yet to be confirmed.
‘The doctor is busy and we will let you know [about the injury]. But he did well for his debut. He pushed the ball, kept the possession. I’m happy for him on his debut. Good player, good boy,’ Mosimane told the media.
Sundowns conceded a late goal from a corner and Mosimame insisted that they needed Seabi’s height to deal with the set-piece.
‘And also one of the reasons that created problems is we lost him, because he has the height to deal with those corner kicks and all that. You know when you lose height against a team that’s desperate for a goal.’
Mamelodi Sundowns will now shift their focus to the MTN8 when they host Bloemfontein Celtic at the LucasMoripe Stadium on Saturday with kick off set fot 8:15.
