Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has admitted he was not happy with his side’s draw with Highlands Park, saying they were anxious while also lamenting a possible handball in the buildup to Peter Shalulille’s goal.

The Brazilians came into their Friday night clash knowing that only three points would be enough to close the gap on Kaizer Chiefs at the top of the table.

Downs, though, were pegged back early in the encounter as Peter Shalulile opened the scoring for the Lions of the North. Downs eventually managed to find the equaliser through Sphelele Mkhulise just before half time.

Sundowns threw everything at Highlands in the second stanza but could not find a way to the back of the net and were forced to settle for a point.

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the game, Mosimane was clearly frustrated and opened up on a big missed opportunity for his side.

‘I’m not happy, yeah, we were just killed by that early goal and in the first half we moved the ball well. We didn’t play enough but in stages of the game and I feel we could have played enough,’ Mosimane said.

‘There was too much anxiety, too much anxiousness, you know, to try and score. The first half was OK, we played better and you could see it coming.

‘But, yeah, the first goal killed us – it looked like there was a hand that helped Shalulile to bring it forward. It looked like, I don’t know, because too many hands in Dobsonville, there was another hand against [Orlando] Pirates. So, there was a hand again tonight in my opinion. If it’s not there I’m happy to be wrong,’ added the Downs coach.
