Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that the club is still undecided on the future of Jeremy Brockie, while the forward says he would be open for a ‘second chance’ at the club.
The 32-year-old is currently on loan at Maritzburg United after struggling to make an impact at Downs following his arrival from SuperSport United in January 2018.
Sundowns have the option to extend Brockie’s contract when it terminates at the end of May but with the league currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, Downs coach Mosimane admits that a decision will be made at the last moment.
‘We haven’t decided to be honest‚ it is one of those late decisions‚’ Mosimane told TimesLIVE.
‘We have to decide with the whole technical team and the management. At the moment we are a little bit worried about the ones we want to bring in because they’ll sign with other people.
‘The contracts of some of them are coming to an end and some of them have a year left‚ with a year left it’s the best time to pitch.
‘If they don’t release the player‚ in December we can sign him for free.’
The new Zealander remains positive about his future, telling the same publication he is hoping for a second chance at Chloorkop.
‘At the moment it’s not in my hands‚’ he said.
‘Sundowns have an option and it is up to them whether they extend or decline at the end of May.
‘This is my last year but there are still two one-year options.
‘[Sundowns] have the option to extend at the end of May. If they extend I will go back there and get my second chance‚ but it’s a wait-and-see situation at the moment.
‘They have a good bunch of boys in the change room‚ I won league titles there but the small part is my contribution and I still want to do that.’
