Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has insisted that his side’s clash against league leaders Bidvest Wits this Saturday will not determine where the league title ends up.
The two sides come into Saturday’s top of the table clash neck and neck in the race for this season’s title with the Clever Boys at the top with 37 points, while Downs are just two points behind them, but importantly have two games in hand on their rivals.
A win for the Brazilians will see them end the weekend at the top of the table and firmly in control of the title race, but Mosimane has looked to take the pressure off by insisting that the clash will not determine the league and that his side is focused on not losing.
‘I don’t think the game on Saturday will determine the championship, because there is still a long way to go.
‘Obviously we want to go there and win the match to boost our position on the log‚ but even if we don’t win it’s still okay.
‘The most important thing is we don’t lose,’ said Mosimane.
‘There you will have to play proper chess and don’t be emotional because if you are emotional you will lose,’ added the former Bafana Bafana coach.
Sundowns dropped two points at home on Tuesday after a 1-1 draw with Polokwane City, missing out on the chance to go top, but Mosimane is not worried, insisting that there is still a long way to go.
‘We are sitting nice on the table and it is a nice position to be in‚’ Mosimane said.
‘I don’t think we will win all our remaining games and I don’t know if there is anybody in this league who is going to win all their remaining games.
‘The draw against Polokwane is not a crisis. We are just missing the edge, but there are many games left in the season and you know what is going to happen at the end,’ he concluded.
