Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was pleased with a point against Bidvest Wits after a game where he believes his side were tactically superior while playing with 10-men.
Downs took and early lead in the top of the table clash against the Clever Boys as Phakamani Mahalmbi pounced on rebound inside six minutes.
The game was, however, turned on its head in a ten-minute spell where Gift Motupa equalised for the home side before Wayne Arendse was sent off for the Brazilians.
Despite having to play with a man down for the entire second half, Sundowns did well to keep out the league leaders and leave Johannesburg with a point.
Speaking after the game Mosimane praised his team while also revealing that he was happy with the point given the circumstances.
‘It was a big game, a difficult game for us. I think the boys were tactically superior. We know the strength of Wits.
‘We dealt with the crosses and tried to limit the crosses from the side then we can deal with the free-kicks.
‘Then, we left the two centre-backs with the ball and we managed. The players showed that they are a Champions League team. Five years in the Champions League,’ Mosimane told SuperSport TV.
‘Tactically superior. Ricardo [Nascimento] corrected his mistake. Unfortunately, at Sundowns we always shoot ourselves in the foot. You know what happened at Polokwane and you know what happened tonight,’ he added.
‘But we have important players and look at him Ricardo in the second half, it’s unbelievable. It’s a big game we got the point, as long we didn’t lose its OK.
‘We wanted to win and we came here to win that’s why we were the first one to draw blood. We didn’t have the numbers in the box like in the first half as we wanted earlier,’ concluded the former Bafana coach.
