Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed the steps he took in ensuring the readiness of defender Modjeka Madisha for the first-team at the Chloorkop based-outfit.
The 22-year-old defender proved his worth in gold when he netted the only goal of the game in the Absa Premiership encounter against Free State Stars on Saturday to take Sundowns four points adrift of log-leaders, Cape Town City with two games in-hand.
The former Bafana Bafana mentor highlighted how he forced the former youth international to ply his trade in the reserve league in preparation for first-team football.
‘I have triggered the hunger in Madisha, already you don’t know the internal stuff that is happening,’ he told kickoff’s website.
‘I kept him in the deep freezer also he was coming and dribbling and I kept him in the deep freezer.
‘I sent him to MDC and said until you play well in the MDC then you gonna come here. Your ticket to Sundowns is the MDC. He was captain and showed leadership.
‘He came to me and says, ‘coach can I go to Holland on the trip?’ I said, ‘go and play in Europe and see what you can do,’ and he brought a trophy from there. I am very happy.
‘I told him he must not forget where he comes from. He is young, he is gonna make mistakes. We need to give room for mistakes ,but yeah he is a good boy,’ he concluded.
Sundowns face arch-rivals SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership encounter on Wednesday 24 April at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium with kick-off set for 19:30.
