Bafana Bafana striker Percy Tau

After former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau shone for Bafana Bafana in the international break, his old coach Pitso Mosimane has again highlighted the difficulties of life without the forward in his side.

Tau left Downs after a season where he won the Absa Premiership Player of the Season, earning him a move to English Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion. He has since been loaned to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium’s second tier, where he has also impressed.

The 24-year-old was an integral part of Mosimane’s side that won the league last season, where he scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists across all competitions.

The forward has continued his development and has shone both for Bafana Bafana and his club side this season, and has begun raising eyebrows across the globe.

Mosimane, who spoke on a number of occasions about the effect of losing Tau at the start of the 2018/19 season, again reiterated the difficulties he faces without a player of Tau’s quality in his ranks.

‘I told you guys it’ll be difficult for me to replace Tau, and you guys are not listening to me and you don’t understand,’ said Mosimane when speaking to the media in his role as a dignitary for the Nelson Mandela Challenge game between Bafana Bafana and Paraguay.

‘If you don’t have a player like that, you tell me where I’m going to get it? But this is not the space for me to talk, this is Safa’s space,’ concluded the former Bafana Bafana coach.
