Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was pleased with his sides emphatic 5-0 victory against SuperSport United on Thursday night, but stressed that it’s all about the three points regardless of the opponents.
An own-goal by Clayton Daniels coupled with further strikes by Themba Zwane, Mzikayise Mashaba and a brace by Khama Billiat condemned Matsatsantsa to their second consecutive league loss and Mosimane is confident that his side are back to their best after outsmarting their cross-town rivals.
‘I think we broke the ice you know, you when luck is with you sometimes,’ he said after the game.
‘I’m not saying we are lucky to win I’m talking about the first goal that deflects and look at the first two that Percy got one-on-one with the keeper, the first two, three minutes and I was saying ‘oh is it our night again’ and we still in the same space.
‘But luck came and the ball deflected and the rest of the goals were just right decisions and applying the right technique in front of the goals.
‘But we have been playing like this, we just haven’t been scoring. I am happy for the boys. I am happy for them, everybody is singing now you know it is unbelievable. I feel sorry for them, for the loss, 5/6 games and they haven’t converted but ya, thank God tonight we broke the ice and Sundowns today converted chances I can tell you it could have been like this at the last three or four openings, but thank God tonight we inside,’ he added.
Mosimane also revealed his delight at the victory for the Masandawana faithful.
‘I am happy for the fans, I am happy for the boys. For the last 4 or 5 games I’ve been stressed. And they find their confidence and the people have found their voices, we are the last ones to talk,’ he concluded.
Sundowns face Free State Stars in their next Absa Premiership encounter on Sunday April 16 at 15:00.
