Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has admitted that he sees Orlando Pirates as the favourites ahead of their crunch Absa Premiership fixture. DEAN WORKMAN reports.
The defending Absa Premiership champions, Sundowns, will take on the team who finished second last season at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday afternoon in a clash that could have ramifications on the title race.
Downs are on a 22-match unbeaten run, which spans across last season and the current campaign, but have started the season slowly as they drew five of their opening eight fixtures.
The poor start was put down to the side’s struggles in front of goal, but a 3-1 midweek win over Free State Stars would have undoubtedly boosted their confidence ahead of the clash against the table-topping Pirates side.
“It’s always big, no matter how you look at it but with us both being in contention at the top of the League, it’s that much bigger!” O.M

Speaking to the media at Chloorkop in the buildup to the clash, Mosimane was asked whether Pirates are slight favourites.
‘Yeah, they are, not slight – they are favourites,’ responded the Downs coach.
‘The facts are that in the past four, five games they have been better than us, so they are favourites.
‘Look at the number of goals they score, they are favourites, while we are in the teething stages,’ concluded Mosimane.
