Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that he is simply giving young forward Lebohang Maboe a rest after he was left out for the game against Maritzburg United last weekend.
The Bafana Bafana forward has been a constant in the Downs side since his arrival at the start of last season.
Maboe played an integral role in his sides Absa Premiership title victory while also featuring heavily in their run to the Caf Champions League semi-finals all before heading to Egypt with Bafana Bafana for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mosimane has thus decided to give Maboe a rest in the game against the Team of Choice and he could also miss Friday nights Caf Champions League match against Cote d’Or.
‘I have given Lebo a rest. Lebo must rest. Lebo needs to rest a little bit and calm down,’ said Mosimane.
‘The team can win without Lebo. There is no problem. He will come back. Let him get the energy, let him get the appetite. He has been playing for a team [Maritzburg] that play after seven days, so he has been going and going.
‘He is a good player. He was top goalscorer and won the championship. He must rest now.’
Maboe was also left out of the Bafana Bafana squad to face Mali in the Nelson Mandela Challenge in Durban next month with Mosimane and Molefi Nsteki seemingly on the same page.
