Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has lamented his side’s inability to find the back of the net despite a tight 1-0 win over Chippa United over the weekend.

Masandawana took the lead early on in the encounter courtesy of a wonderful strike from Gaston Sirino. Despite a number of opportunities in the remainder of the half, the Brazilians could not add to their lead.

Sundowns were almost made to pay for their wastefulness as Chippa dominated parts of the second half as they pushed forward in search of a leveller.

Mosimane’s men managed to hold on for the three points, but he admitted to SuperSport TV that his side should have killed the game off in the first half.

‘They pushed us. They put five people up front. So, when they put five what are you going to do? We also put five,’ said Mosimane.

‘It’s difficult. We had to use the experience of [Hlompho] Kekana and Andile [Jali]. But when they push everybody out, our transition from the back was not good. We should punish them because they are putting a lot of people up front.

‘The goal we scored against Bloemfontein Celtic. We should do that. But our passing was not right,’ he added.

‘A very difficult game but at the end of the day, we came to PE and got three points.

‘Sundowns, we are good people, but my team doesn’t know how to score goals,’ Mosimane concluded.
