Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has committed to win Downs their 10th League title of the PSL era in their 50-year anniversary but he says he can’t choose between winning the league and the Caf Champions League.
The club was formed in the late 1960s by a group of youngsters in Marabastad and will celebrate their 50th year of existence in 2020 when the current campaign is set to conclude.
Last season Downs secured a record ninth league title of the PSL era and Mosimane has spoken of his desire to win ‘La Decima’ as a part of the clubs celebrations.
‘I have made a commitment that this is the 50th anniversary for Mamelodi Sundowns and I will do my best to make sure that the 50th celebration will have La Decima,’ said Mosimane.
‘That’s my belief, that’s my opinion,’ he added.
The Sundowns coach though could not decide between league victory and another Champions League success.
‘I would not like to choose. I would say to you both.
‘That will be a good celebration. But the star on top of the badge it took 25 years for another South African team to get it.
‘The star that just goes below to make it 10 [league titles] five months back in May there was a title. You can look at the difference of amount of time to get the star to the other star,’ he concluded.
