Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has stressed the importance of collecting all three points against Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday.
The Brazilians are coming off the back of an impressive 2-0 victory over Bidvest Wits in their previous Absa Premiership encounter, with both Hlompho Kekana and Sibusiso Vilakazi getting on the scoresheet at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium over the weekend.
Hlompho Kekana gave his side the lead in the 40th minute before Sibusiso Vilakazi all but sealed the victory in stoppage time, as Sundowns walked away with all three points.
The former Bafana Bafana coach says his aim for this season is to firstly, secure a victory over the Chilli Boys and then finish the season off with the same amount of point they did the previous season.
‘We are just taking one game at a time and we’re not looking up the log,’ Mosimane said.
‘What’s good for us now is that we’re three points ahead of our schedule so we need to win against Chippa United to complete our first block of fixtures and deposit those points in the other block of matches.
‘If we carry on in that manner‚ we’re en route for the same number of points we had last season. I don’t know whether we’ll get there because of injuries and stuff.’
The Brazilians are now on a three-match winning streak in the Absa Premiership and are also unbeaten in seven games, having won six and playing to one draw.
Sundowns are currently placed fifth in the Absa Premiership standings with 32 points, having won 10 out of 14 matches played so this season and are now three points behind log leaders SuperSport United, who have played 18 games.
Mamelodi Sundowns will now welcome Chippa United to the Loftus Versfeld Stadium when the two sides lock horns in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
