Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari says he has been inspired by the transformation of teammate Vincent Pule this season.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form for the Buccaneers since joining the club from Bidvest Wits during the summer transfer window, having already managed to score three goals and assist a further two from 10 appearances in all competitions.

As a result of his impressive showing for Pirates, he was recently called up to the national team before making his Bafana Bafana debut against Libya.

However, the Pirates attacker has since withdrawn from the national team set-up after picking up a knee injury and was subsequently replaced by teammate Thembinkosi Lorch.

Motshwari says he is delighted to see his close friend and teammate Pule’s growth as a player as it will benefit himself and the team.

‘I think he’s having the season of his life. The way he’s started has been really great, and I just wish and pray that he continues from where he is now,’ Motshwari told kickoff.com.

‘He mustn’t stop, he must just keep on scoring goals, because that benefits us as a team by gaining three points and momentum so that we can keep on going forward.

‘[His form] is an inspiration itself because we spend a lot of time together at the club, even off the field we call each other more often.

‘To see him transform from the player he was [at Wits] to what he is now is a big inspiration towards all of us, and I’m happy for him.’

Bafana Bafana are now set to welcome Seychelles to the FNB Stadium on Saturday when the two sides square off in their Afcon qualifier with kick-off set for 3pm.
