Bidvest Wits midfielder Ben Motshwari insists his side has to keep grinding out results to increase their chances of claiming the Absa Premiership title at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old, who has scored one goal and appeared 20 times so far this season, was named Man of the Match following his impressive performance against the Buccaneers.
The Clever Boys extended their lead at the summit of the Absa Premiership table to three points, with Cuthberth Malajila scoring the only goal of the match in the 56th minute.
Motshwari admits that the Students fought hard to collect all three point against a stubborn Pirates side, and says his side have to keep grinding out positive results to collect points.
‘It was a tough game. You know we needed these points, especially after the game we just played against Sundowns [1-0 victory on Monday],’ Motshwari told SuperSport TV.
‘We are having difficult fixtures you know, we just want to win the next match that’s coming on.
‘We just have to grind, even if it has to be 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, it doesn’t matter, as long as we continue collecting those points.’
Bidvest Wits will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table even further when they take on Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership on Sunday.
The match at the Bidvest Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
