Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari believes that his side let themselves down after conceding a late goal during their 2-2 draw against Cape Town City at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

The Buccaneers were leading 2-1 with four minutes left to play until the final whistle before Craig Martin headed home a late equaliser as both sides shared the spoils.

The draw sees Pirates move one point ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the Absa Premiership standings, while the Citizens remained fourth on the table with 48 points respectively.

Motshwari, who was named Man of the Match, insists that his side only have themselves to blame for their inability to collect maximum points away from home.

‘I dont know what to say, We conceded an early goal once again,’ Motshwari told Supersport TV after the game.

‘Last minute we lose concentration in such a crucial game. I’m lost for words. We should never have conceded such a goal. It was a lack of concentration in the dying minutes of the game. Like I said that was an easy goal to concede. I’m disappointed. I think as a club you know we did this to ourselves.

‘We can’t give up, We have to soldier on. We’ll take this point and hopefully it will mean something at the end of the season.

‘We let ourselves down. We started badly. We ended badly. We showed character after they scored. We came at them. We scored two goals. We should have wrapped it up. We had so many chances. But this is football how is. If you don’t take your chances, this is what happens.’
