Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Gift Motupa is relishing the opportunity to participate in the DStv Compact Cup, hoping to win the newest cup competition in South Africa.

The 27-year-old was selected to play in the new competition and travelled to KwaZulu-Natal to join Dinaledi FC, who are set to face Coastal United in the semi-final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Motupa is relishing the chance to get much-needed game time in the cup competition with his domestic campaign short-lived after sustaining an injury.

“Firstly, I would love to thank the supporters for voting for us. It will be very interesting to be in this cup, I am looking forward to seeing the other players and trying new combinations on the field of play,” Motupa told his club’s official website.

“It will be good for match fitness, I am looking forward to scoring goals and winning the trophy.

“We’ve played together in development areas and others we’ve played together in the national team.”

Dinaledi FC against Coastal United kicks off at 3pm.
