Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has pleaded with the Amakhosi supporters to stick by them and not to boo the players when they make mistakes.

The Glamour Boys secured their third consecutive victory in the Absa Premiership after cruising to a comfortable 2-0 victory over AmaZulu at the FNB Stadium on Saturday through goals from Mphahlele and Siyabonga Ngezana.

Giovanni Solinas’ men remain in fourth place in the league standings with 13 points from eight games, a point behind log-leaders Orlando Pirates, who secured a 2-1 win over Baroka on the same day.

Mphahlele, who was named Man of the Match following his impressive performance against AmaZulu, says he is hopeful that the club’s supporters will stand by them following their recent run of form in the PSL, despite their slow start.

‘Our defenders scored the goals today, I’m very happy. One more message to our supporters: they are brilliant, we love them but they must stop booing one of us, we don’t come here to play around,’ Mphahlele told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘We come here to play for them, we know that they spend a lot of money to come here. So we plead they must just stick by us, the mistakes are there but we’ll give 100% in every game.

‘The supporters have been brilliant, this is for them, you know. We play for them every game, we want to make them happy. I’m happy for the team after a slow start, we’ve picked ourselves up. We just have to be consistent and be level-headed. Keep winning, if we keep winning, the confidence goes up and the spirit in the team becomes a happy place.’

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to secure their fourth consecutive win when they travel to Highlands Park on 2 October with kick-off set for 7:30pm.
