Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele admits that his side’s 2-2 draw with SuperSport United is a big setback for their title aspirations this season.
The Amakhosi defender received the man of the match award, following his display against SuperSport in their Absa Premiership encounter.
Mphalele says he was disappointed with his side’s lack of concentration during vital stages of the match and believes that Chiefs should’ve won the match after their display.
‘It’s always the case. We finish so well and then we just lose concentration at a very critical time of the game. I’m very disappointed, I don’t want to lie,’ Mphahlele told SuperSport TV.
‘I think we could have bagged all three points, but what can you say, we lost concentration, we got punished for it.
‘All the goals that we’ve been conceding throughout the season are soft goals for us, we are a big team, we should be dealing much better with the situations. Very disappointed.’
The 27-year-old admits that their stalemate against Stuart Baxter’s side has dented their chances of claiming their fifth Absa Premiership title.
‘I mean how many [chances] do you want? If you don’t put the chances inside then this is what’s gonna happen,’ he added.
‘It’s a very big setback for us [in the title race] but we have to keep going, we don’t have a choice. We just have to keep hustling and grinding and obviously, we wanted to take the three points and at least move a little bit up, but it wasn’t to be.
‘It’s a big setback, we’ve dropped points at a crucial time of the season when we need them the most. Very disappointed but we just have to keep going.’
