Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele wants his side to claim maximum points against Orlando Pirates to continue their quest for silverware this season.
The Glamour Boys currently occupy third place in the Absa Premiership standings with 35 points, while the Buccaneers are placed second on the table, a point above Steve Komphela’s side.
Mphahlele insists Amakhosi has to win the Soweto derby on Saturday if they want to keep their Absa Premiership title hopes alive.
‘We want to win the Soweto Derby, because we are seriously challenging for the league title,’ Mphahlele told his club’s official website.
‘Happy? You must be lying, because we are in third position, but we are fighting for the league title.
‘We don’t need to beat around the bush. That’s also why we, as Kaizer Chiefs, need to win on Saturday. And if you are really not thinking about the possibility of winning the league title, then why not send your MDC side to play the Soweto Derby – if winning the league doesn’t matter.’
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are set to lock horns at the FNB Stadium on their much-anticipated Soweto Derby on Saturday, with kickoff set for 15:30.
