Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele insists his side will continue to fight for honours in the Absa Premiership this season.

The Glamour Boys secured their 12th victory in the Absa Premiership after their 1-0 win over Chippa United at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, with George Lebese scoring the only goal of the match.
Mphahlele has been in fine for since joining the club from Mamelodi Sundowns and has already scored once, provided three assists from 23 appearances in the Absa Premiership.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns captain insists that he is delighted to have been named Man of the Match but has remained humble and credited it as a team effort.
‘It was always going to be difficult to face a good team like Chippa United. Chippa likes to play and we prefer to keep the ball as well. It was set to become an interesting affair,’ Mphahlele told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
‘I am happy to be selected as the Man of the Match. It all boils down to teamwork.’
The 27-year-old insists the praise for Amakhosi’s current for has to go to the technical team after they extended their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership to 13 matches since losing to Chippa in December 2016.
‘We want to stay at the top with the chasing pack,’ he added.
‘As you will remember, the last time we lost a competitive game was against Chippa. We have since been working hard on the mental aspect of our game. Our mind is filled with positivity and that helps us cope under pressure.’
‘Credit must go to our technical team. They are working hard to help us with a positive mind-set. When we were experiencing a slump, we always knew that we would bounce back. We have a good squad and personnel to fight for honours.’
Kaizer Chiefs will next go head-to-head with SuperSport United when the two sides meet in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
The match at the FNB Stadium kicks off at 18:00.
