Orlando Pirates forward Augustine Mulenga admits that Pirates could have scored more goals in the 2-1 victory against Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby on Saturday.

The Zambian was influential in his side’s comeback against Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium and was awarded man-of-the-match award after terrorising Chiefs’ defensive duo of Mario Booysen and Siyabonga Ngezana.

Mulenga extended his gratitude to the Pirates supporters in his post-match comments in addition to revealing that they executed the technical team’s plans to the tee.

‘I want to say thank you to God and the coaches for giving me this opportunity. This was a big game. [It] went according the plans we had throughout the week. I say thank you to God because we managed to get the three points.

‘I say thank you to the supporters because they deserve these three points,” the Zambian, who was named Man of the Match told SuperSport TV.

‘They scored first but we knew that there was still time. We crossed over and regrouped. When we regrouped we managed to get the goal that gave us confidence [to net the winner].

‘We could have scored more than two goals but it’s part of the game. Two goals were enough for us because we managed to get the three points,’ he concluded.

The Buccaneers turn their attention to their Telkom Knockout quarter-final clash against Baroka on Saturday with the date and venue set to be announced this week.
