Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi admits his side are desperate for a win over AmaZulu when they meet in their DStv Premiership clash at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Both Pirates and Usuthu come into this game picking up only a point after goalless draws with Baroka and Royal Am in their last matches in the DStv Premiership.
But Ncikazi want his side to create more chances in the final third and become more ruthless in front of goal, having only scored 14 goals in 13 games thus far.
“Two desperate teams, desperate for points if you consider how AmaZulu played in the last match, which I thought they should have won,” Ncikazi told the club’s media department.
“But they could not score in the same scenario as us in our previous match. We know they are good but, like I always said, if Pirates play the way they are playing, dominate matches the way we dominate and take the chances that we create, we have a big chance of getting the three points.
“We just have to be ruthless in front of goal and to be calm and take the chances.
“Maybe the fact that we are desperate also creates a panic around the players where we should be encouraging them to be more composed around the box. That’s the only way of taking the chances that we create.”
The match at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 5:30pm.
