Mamelodi Sundowns right-back Anele Ngcongca says he has not ruled out the possibility of returning to Belgium, despite being contracted to the Tshwane side.
The 30-year-old has managed to make 32 appearances in all competitions for Pitso Mosimane’s side since returning to South Africa in August 2016.
Ngcongca admits that he has been in contact with former coach Frank Vercauteren about the possibility of joining Cercle Brugge, but he insists his focus is on Sundowns at the moment.
‘I’ve been in touch [with Cercle Brugge]. I’m that one person who speaks the truth, I’m honest,’ Ngcongca told FarPost. ‘But again I still have a contract [with Sundowns].’
‘I told [Vercauteren] the situation that I have one year left with an option, but then we will speak at the end of the season about it. I can’t say now that I want to leave, but it will depend with my agent and the club. We shall see at the end of the season.
‘But now I’m focusing on Sundowns; there are a few games remaining and [I want to] try to help the team win the Nedbank and the league.’
Mamelodi Sundowns will now turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup when they take on Maritzburg United in the semi-final at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off set for 3pm.
