Kaizer Chiefs development product Siyabonga Ngezana has all the traits to become one of the best defenders in football, according to former Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye.

The centre back has been a revelation for the Amakhosi since his promotion to the first team under former coach Steve Komphela two years ago.

Ngezana has impressed so much so that he has not only cemented his spot in the Chiefs starting XI, but many Chiefs fans across the country believe that the starlet is the best defender in coach Giovanni Solinas’ side.

Khanye was full of praise for the 21-year-old, categorically stating that he could play at the highest level one day.

‘Ngezana is a very good player and in him, South Africa is having a gem. That boy is going to be one of the best, not only in South Africa but in the world if he is given a fair chance to grow and progress well in his career,’ he told SoccerLaduma.

‘Obviously, there is a lot that he still needs to learn. I have noticed the one aspect of his game that he needs to improve on, he tends to rush into some situations like making tackles in dangerous situations on the field.

‘He has to be guided on such kinds of aspects of his game,’ he concluded.
