Cape Town City midfielder Thabo Nodada says he is excited by his MTN8 Last Man Standing nomination, but admits the top eight competition took its toll on the team’s performance.
The Citizens made it all the way to the MTN8 final last year but fell short at the final hurdle when they suffered a 4-2 defeat on penalties at the hands of SuperSport United.
However, the Premier Soccer League named the 23-year-old as one of the nominees for the MTN8 Last Man Standing award following his performances throughout the competition.
Nodada expressed his delight at being nominated for the prestigious accolade while admitting that the competition had a negative impact on the team’s overall performance.
‘I am extremely happy with me just winning the [Cape Town City] Player of the Season and then again to get the chance to appear at the PSL awards for a competition, the MTN8, that hurt us a lot, that stopped our momentum that killed a lot of our buzz,’ Nodada told the media.
‘Obviously, more so to represent Cape Town City, to appear at the awards for me is a big thing and I am very happy about it. Everything is just coming in my stride and I am excited about it.’
The City midfielder was also recently named Cape Town City’s Player of the Season for the 2017-18 campaign following the club’s awards ceremony.
