Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic believes Amakhosi have the pedigree to win the Absa Premiership title every year.
The Glamour Boys suffered their first loss of the season when they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat by Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium last weekend.
However, Amakhosi remained at the top of the league standings level on 10 points with second-placed Rise and Shine. Both teams have won three, drawn one and conceded one defeat after five matches.
Nurkovic, who joined Chiefs at the start of the campaign, says he is ready to help the Soweto giants return to their former glory.
‘I saw the club has the richest history in this country, so of course every year this club deserves [to win the league],’ Nurkovic told the media.
‘For me, personally, I don’t look too much in the future. I’m just trying to focus on each game and trying to collect as much points as we can. We will see what happens after.’
On a personal level, the Serbian striker insists he is solely focused on helping the team succeed, despite scoring only one goal in five appearances for Amakhosi.
‘For me, it doesn’t matter who’s going to score goals. As long as we get three points, because we put the club in the first place,’ he added.
‘If we’re going to win every game then, of course, the players will also get rewarded.’
Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to bounce back when they take on AmaZulu in their next Absa Premiership clash at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Tuesday, with kick-off set for 3pm.
