Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic insists that the Absa Premiership cannot be decided in November as there is a long way to go until the end of the season.
The Serbian forward netted a brace as Amakhosi cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Stellenbosch at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The win extends Chiefs’ winning run to seven games and stretches their lead at the top of the table to 10 points over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, Nurkovic won’t count their chickens before they’re hatched.
‘There’s no title that any team has won in November, there’s still a lot of games to play. We just need to continue with the same spirit, in the end it will be OK for us, I’m sure,’ Nurkovic told SuperSport TV post-game.
‘This happened to the best teams in the world, even Barcelona. We had this two weeks’ break, seven days off, so ja, it happened. We needed this victory take back our confidence and we’ll go from week to week.
‘We have to collect as much as possible points and in the end we’ll see.’
