Orlando Pirates midfielder Musa Nyatama believes that he proved with his performances last season that age is just a number.
The 30-year-old enjoyed arguably his best campaign ever in the 2017/18 season after moving from Bloemfontein Celtic to the Soweto Giants.

Nyatama was awarded for his form as he collected the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year awards on Thursday night at the club’s end of season awards ceremony.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man was a vital part of Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic team. The Serbian along with his assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena turned Nyatama into a deep-lying playmaker, a role he had never played before.
Nyatama played 30 matches in all competitions as he helped guide Pirates to a second place finish, while also securing qualification for next season’s Caf Champions League for the first time since 2013.

Speaking to SABC Sport, the midfielder revealed his delight at proving the doubters wrong, ‘I believe that I served the team well. There is always this perception in South Africa that when a player is over 30, he cannot perform.
‘However, most players are at the peak of their careers when they are over the age of 30 and this age perception should stop.
‘To my fellow football players, even if you are over the age of 30, you can still do it,’ he concluded.
