Orlando Pirates midfielder Musa Nyatama admits that Kaizer Chiefs were the better team, despite the Buccaneers claiming a 3-1 in the Soweto Derby on Saturday.
The Buccaneers kept the pressure on log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after a brace from Luvuyo Memela and a goal by Thembinkosi Lorch cancelled out Leonardo Castro’s first-half strike.
Nyatama, who walked away with the Man of the Match award, says his side didn’t play their normal game against Chiefs, but the midfielder insists Steve Komphela’s side were the better team on the day.
‘It was not easy. I don’t think we’ve played our game model but I’m happy we managed to get the three points. Kaizer Chiefs were a better team today but we scored our goals,’ Nyatama told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘We are a playing team, we start from the back but today Chiefs were pressing us high and we couldn’t get out of those situations but on one or two occasions we managed to come out, but I’m happy we managed to get the three points.
‘It’s such an honour and privilege to be Man of the Match today in this game and I look forward to improving my game.’
Orlando Pirates will now turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup when they travel to face Cape Town City on 14 March, with kick-off set for 19:30.
