Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Musa Nyatama says he had to leave the club for Highlands Park because he was not happy with his lack of game time.
The midfielder was one of Milutin Sredojevic’s main men during the 2017-18 season where he impressed many playing in the deep playmaker role after moving to the club.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic man, though, struggled to break into the team this campaign amid the coaching changes at the Soweto giants.
Nyatama and Pirates then decided to mutually terminate his contract – set to end in June anyway – which allowed him to join the Lions of the North.
‘Yeah, my brother, it was not an easy decision to leave a club like Orlando Pirates but I had to do it because I was not getting game time. I’m grateful to Highlands Park for giving me the opportunity to play for them,’ said the midfielder on his exit from Pirates.
‘Yeah, we sat down and we came to a decision on what is good for my career and Orlando Pirates because my contract was supposed to end in June, so we opted to separate,’ added Nyatama.
‘I was not really happy to not be getting any game time. I wanted to contribute to the team. It’s part of the game you know, players come and go in football and I had to move on,’ he concluded.
