Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza has addressed the behaviour of their supporters during their 6-0 thrashing against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on Saturday.

The Buccaneers suffered their worst ever defeat in the Absa Premiership after conceding six goals against the defender champions on Saturday.

The Sea Robbers supporters showed their frustrations by invading the field 83 minutes into the match cause the match to be suspended with under 10 minutes left to play. The game later resumed and finished with the Downs’ 6-0 win over Bucs.

However, their Absa Premiership encounter did later resume, with the Brazilians coming out big winners on the day through goals by Themba Zwane, Percy Tau, Ricardo Nascimento and  Thapelo Morena.

The PSL has also strongly condemned the acts of ‘hooliganism’ at Loftus Versfeld Stadium and apologised to everyone affected by the incidents that took place on Saturday.

The Pirates chairman has now apologised for their supporters’ behaviour and has revealed that the law is taking full action against guilty parties involved.

‘This is an unusual day for the Club & today we meet to address a matter that should not happen in our football,’ Dr Khoza said.

‘Violence is not an answer; violence diminishes any legitimate reasons in any protest situation.

‘I pronounce here today, clearly & unequivocally, that we support the law in taking full action against the perpetrators.

‘We need to address issues in the correct manner so that invasions & other such acts of violence don’t become commonplace in SA.’

Orlando Pirates will be hoping to bounce back when they Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

The match at the Orlando Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
