Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is excited to have fans back in the stadium for their upcoming DStv Premiership clash against SuperSport United on Saturday.
The Soweto giants will be hoping to bounce back when they welcome a wounded Matsatsantsa side to the FNB Stadium with both teams looking for a positive result in Soweto.
Amakhosi come into this fixture sitting in third place on the league standings – level on 39 points with fifth placed Cape Town City and fourth placed Orlando Pirates, while United are in eighth place, eight points behind Chiefs with 31 points after 24 matches.
“For me when playing against Kaizer Chiefs you were always excited and nervous about the crowd, because you know the crowd will come out in their numbers and that the atmosphere is amazing. Everyone knows that Chiefs’ supporters are the club’s 12th man,” Petersen told his club’s official website.
“Now that the stadiums are opening up, I’m really excited to have the supporters back and to have that atmosphere again and I’m really looking forward to the game. Mentally, knowing the fans are coming back, obviously, it’s going to be different, and much better.
“We know the supporters are going to be there backing us and rooting for us. We know the supporters drive us and are a very important part of the Kaizer Chiefs brand and the Kaizer Chiefs family and we are very excited to have them back.
“Playing SuperSport is never an easy game. They will come out firing. Everyone who plays Chiefs wants to beat us, so we know it’s going to be a good game, a physical game. But we’ve been preparing well. We’re one up on them, hopefully, we can make it two.”
