Orlando Pirates look to be leading the race to secure the signature of SuperSport United winger Thuso Phala.

With just six months left on his current deal with Matsatsantsa, a move in January looks likely for the former Mamelodi Sundowns player, with the likes of Pirates, Bidvest Wits and Highlands Park all said to be interested in signing Pala.

According to a KickOff.com report, Phala is said to favour a move to the Buccaneers in the current transfer window. If he does make the move, he will become a part of an select group of players to have turned out for Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

‘We have many offers for Thuso Phala. He’s still with us for now, as he still has six months left on his contract,’ SuperSport official David Skhosana said.

‘As a club we haven’t got any signed document. We are hearing reports from you guys about Orlando Pirates. We will make an announcement once there is a deal.

‘We can’t confirm or deny anything. Thuso is still with us as far as we know,’ he added.

The winger has made just six Absa Premiership appearances for Kaitano Tembo’s team, while he has also played five games in knockout competitions this season, but has clearly fell behind in the pecking order at the Pretoria-based club.
