Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse believes teammate Denis Onyango is the best keeper in the Absa Premiership, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.
The Brazilians are currently preparing for their Telkom Knockout quarter-final battle against Baroka which takes place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Pieterse, who has previously played with Itumeleng Khune and Ronwen Williams at Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United respectively, insists that Onyango’s attributes makes him the best shot-stopper in the league.
‘For me? I think it’s Denis Onyango. He is dominant in the air, he is a good shot-stopper, he is commanding and I just like his style of play,’ Pieterse told the media.
Pieterse, who has already made two appearances for Sundowns this campaign, will be hoping to challenge Onyango for the number one spot at the club.
‘To be honest in football you never know what can happen. I mean that’s for time to tell. All I can do is work hard and do the best that I can,’ he added.
‘It won’t be easy. We know that we need to put our names in the hat for the next round.’
Mamelodi Sundowns against Baroka kicks off at 3pm.
