Orlando Pirates administrative official Floyd Mbele says the club know nothing about rumours linking Thembinkhosi Lorch with a move away, adding that it’s just paper talk.
The forward has been linked with a move overseas since his stellar performances last season won him win the Absa Premiership Footballer of the Season award.
He has struggled for form this year, though, as reports and rumours continue to swirl around South African media.
Lorch missed his side’s first game of the season in the 1-1 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Saturday, despite being available for selection after returning from a two-game suspension, which added further fuel to talk of a Pirates exit.
The 26-year-old has been linked with both Club Brugge in Belgium and Turkish side Besiktas, but Mbele revealed to KickOff.com that his absence was a technical decision and that the club know nothing about him leaving the club.
‘We don’t know anything about those reports, we only see them in the newspapers,’ said Mbele.
‘There was nothing wrong with his absence on Saturday. It was only a technical decision,’ he added.
The Sea Robbers are next in action on Tuesday night when they face Polokwane City, with reports suggesting Lorch could return to the team.
