Orlando Pirates have given an update on three key players ahead of their Soweto derby clash with Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium next weekend.
The Buccaneers medical team has since revealed its list of players who are currently undergoing treatment, including Ben Motshwari, new signing Nkanyiso Zungu and Abel Mabaso.
The silver lining for Pirates is that they will have a whole week to work on any casualties as they will be out of action this week due to their early exit from the Nedbank Cup.
Pirates will then return to action the following week when they take on arch-rivals Amakhosi in the Absa Premiership on 29 February.
The Buccaneers released the following statement on the progression of three injured players:
‘Ben Motshwari: Is recovering from an ankle sprain he suffered at the beginning of the month and is at the final phase of his rehabilitation. The 28-year-old is expected to start full training soon.
‘Nkanyiso Zungu: Has been undergoing rehabilitation on his grade-two groin strain since signing on the final day of the transfer window and looks set to start cardio work with the strength and conditioning team as they prepare him to start full training.
‘Abel Mabaso: The full extent of his injury has been revealed after he was forced off in the Nedbank Cup clash against Bidvest Wits. Mabaso has suffered a grade-two hamstring strain and is expected to be out for up to two weeks.’
